Our VPK Program
About this course

Course Features
Children are eligible to participate in Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program if they are 4 years old on or before September 1 of the school year. Families must obtain a VPK Certificate of Eligibility through the Early Learning Coalition (ELC). Please contact the school office for additional enrollment information.
Typical Day
Our VPK program is designed to prepare children academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually for kindergarten. Through a balance of teacher-guided instruction, hands-on exploration, and purposeful play, children build foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and Christian education while developing independence, confidence, and problem-solving abilities.
A typical day consists of arrival activities, whole-group and small-group instruction, journal writing, learning centers, Bible lessons, weekly chapel, music, art, story time, outdoor play, and hands-on learning experiences. Children participate in a variety of activities that promote language development, early reading and writing skills, number sense, critical thinking, creativity, and social-emotional growth. Learning experiences are intentionally planned to support kindergarten readiness and align with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards (Birth to Kindergarten).
Enrichment
Learning Environment
Children learn in a nurturing and engaging environment that promotes curiosity, creativity, independence, and confidence. Through a balance of teacher-guided instruction, hands-on exploration, purposeful play, and learning center experiences, students participate in meaningful learning opportunities in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, creative arts, and Christian education. Learning centers encourage children to explore, discover, problem-solve, collaborate with peers, and apply new skills through active learning.
Learning experiences are intentionally planned to support each child’s development and align with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards: 4 Years Old to Kindergarten and the goals of Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program.
Building a Strong Foundation
Granada Day School is committed to preparing children for a successful transition to kindergarten by fostering growth in the academic, social-emotional, physical, and spiritual domains of development. Through meaningful learning experiences, hands-on exploration, Biblical teaching, and purposeful play, children strengthen early literacy, mathematics, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills while developing confidence, independence, responsibility, and self-regulation.
Our goal is to provide a strong foundation for future academic success while nurturing a love for God, respect for others, and the character traits that support lifelong growth and learning.
God is at the Center
Christian Education
At Granada Day School, we believe each child is uniquely created and deeply loved by God. Christian values and biblical teachings are woven throughout the day through prayer, Bible stories, worship songs, chapel, and daily classroom experiences. Children are encouraged to grow in their understanding of God’s love while developing kindness, compassion, respect, and a strong foundation of faith.
Whole Child Focus:
We focus on the whole child and provide opportunities for him, or her, to develop spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically. Your child is loved and encouraged to work at his or her own level of development.
