Prayer for the Nations 2025: A Time of United Prayer at GDS

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Granada Day School hosted Prayer for the Nations, a powerful part of our annual Heritage Week Celebration. This special gathering brings together families, students, and our church community to pray for God’s glory among the nations and to reflect on His call for us to share the gospel with the world.

Why We Pray

Scripture reminds us that our God reigns over every nation and calls all people to Himself:

  • “The heavens proclaim His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory.” — Psalm 97:6
  • “Go and make disciples of all nations…” — Matthew 28:19
  • “Every knee shall bow… every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” — Philippians 2:10–11
  • “A great multitude… from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” — Revelation 7:9

These truths guide our time together as we intercede for the nations and ask God to bring peace, healing, and salvation across the globe.

What to Expect

During Prayer for the Nations, our community gathers to lift up specific regions of the world in prayer. Each time of prayer includes prompts for reflection and intercession:

  • God’s Sovereignty — trusting that He reigns over all nations and is victorious
  • Righteous Leadership — asking for leaders to govern with wisdom and justice
  • Spread of the Gospel — praying for missionaries, churches, and believers to be bold and faithful
  • Peace and Healing — lifting up nations facing conflict, disaster, or brokenness
  • Repentance and Faith — asking that people everywhere turn to Christ and know the joy of salvation

Families join students in the Chapel for this special service, uniting hearts across generations in prayer.

Why It Matters to Our Community

Heritage Week at GDS is about celebrating the cultures and traditions of our families. Prayer for the Nations takes that celebration deeper by reminding us that every culture and every nation belongs to God. It is an opportunity to root our diversity in the gospel and to show our children that faith connects us across the world.

As students see parents, grandparents, and teachers gathered in prayer, they witness firsthand the power of community and the importance of lifting up others. This event reinforces our mission at Granada Day School: to nurture children spiritually, socially, and academically in a Christ-centered environment.
