Heritage Week is almost here at Granada Day School, and our campus is buzzing with anticipation. From September 22–26, 2025, our students, teachers, and families will join together to celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds that make up our school community.

What Happens During Heritage Week
Throughout the week, children will take part in activities designed to help them explore their roots and learn about the heritage of their friends and classmates. Some highlights include:
- Classroom projects that introduce students to traditions, stories, and celebrations from around the world.
- Music and movement activities where children can experience the rhythms and sounds of other cultures.
- Flags and decorations are displayed across our campus, representing the nations and traditions our families hold dear.
- Cultural dress days, where students proudly wear clothing that reflects their background.
- Family food-sharing moments, giving children the joy of tasting favorite dishes from one another’s homes.
The week will also feature Pray for the Nations on Tuesday, September 23. Families are invited to come together as a community to pray for peace, unity, and well-being in countries across the globe. This is a meaningful moment that ties our celebration of culture back to our mission as a Christian school.

Why Heritage Week Matters at GDS
At Granada Day School, our mission is to nurture children in both academics and faith. We believe every child is a unique creation of God, and celebrating cultural heritage helps us reflect that truth in a visible way. Heritage Week shows students that who they are and where they come from matters.
By learning about one another’s backgrounds, children also build empathy, respect, and curiosity. These lessons go beyond the classroom. They prepare students to be thoughtful, compassionate individuals who can thrive in a diverse world.

Why Families Value Heritage Week
Parents often tell us that Heritage Week is one of their favorite times of the school year. It provides a chance for families to share their traditions with the community and gives children a sense of pride in their identity. For many, it is also an opportunity to see their faith and values lived out in a tangible way as the school honors every child’s story.
Heritage Week is a reminder that when we come together, our differences become a source of strength and joy. Families leave the week encouraged, children leave inspired, and our community grows closer.

Looking Ahead
We are grateful for the chance to celebrate Heritage Week again this year, and we look forward to the energy and joy it will bring. As always, our goal is to create an environment where children feel known, loved, and celebrated for who they are in Christ.
We invite all our families to take part, join us in prayer, and continue the tradition of making Heritage Week a memorable and meaningful time for every child.
