This summer at Granada Day School was one to remember. With laughter echoing through the hallways, colorful crafts on every wall, and the joyful energy of little feet running toward new adventures each morning, our Leap Ahead Summer Camp 2025 was packed with unforgettable moments.

A Summer Full of Discovery and Delight
Each week brought a new theme that sparked imagination and encouraged children to explore, create, and connect. From traveling through outer space to experiencing global cultures, our campers learned through hands-on activities, creative play, and meaningful community moments.
Here’s a look at just some of the highlights:
Week 1: Wild Wild West
Campers kicked off summer with cowboy hats, trail mix, and Western-themed crafts. The playground was buzzing with excitement as children reunited with friends and made new ones. Water Day and a hilarious puppet show wrapped up the week with pure joy.

Week 2: Space Week
Campers became astronauts during a magical space adventure, guided by Mr. Higor and their own imaginations. They prayed through meteor showers, landed on the moon, and reminded us all that faith and wonder go hand in hand.
Week 3: Red, White, and Blue
Though rain changed a few plans, it didn’t dampen the spirit. Campers enjoyed a festive indoor Fourth of July picnic and were treated to a surprise visit from the Coral Gables Fire Department. Former students returned to volunteer, reminding us that once you’re part of the GDS family, you’re always part of it.
Week 4: Circus Week
Magic shows, face painting, silly costumes, and a circus animal parade brought smiles all around. It was a favorite week for many, especially for our camp director, who got to step back into the classroom and reconnect with students face-to-face.
Week 5: Safari Adventures
From scavenger hunts to hands-on animal encounters, our Safari week delivered wild fun. Campers fearlessly met snakes, an alligator, and even a honey bear. The children’s bravery (and a few teacher reactions) kept everyone laughing.

Week 6: All Around the World
Children explored global cultures with themed dress-up days, crafts, and our All Around the World Festival. Campers “traveled” with passports in hand, tasting traditional treats and playing games from countries like Spain, France, Australia, and China.
Week 7: Camp’s Got Talent
Our grand finale week featured show-stopping performances, surprise treats, and a heartfelt talent show and dance party. It was a joyful ending to a summer filled with growth, confidence, and community.

Why Summer at Granada Day School Is So Special
At Granada Day School, summer is more than just fun activities. It’s a continuation of our mission to nurture the whole child: spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Through themed weeks, engaging field trips, faith-based learning, and hands-on fun, our campers:
- Build meaningful friendships
- Develop confidence and creativity
- Grow in faith through prayer and chapel time
- Explore new interests in a safe, loving environment
Whether it was praying during a space mission, laughing during Water Day, or trying new foods from around the world, each child experienced moments of wonder, courage, and connection.
Hear It From the Campers
👦 “The red playground is the bestest playground ever!”
💦 “The new slip and slide was my favorite thing in the whole camp!”
