At Granada Day School, we believe early childhood is the best time to build healthy habits, explore new skills, and grow in character. What Preschoolers Learn Through Soccer
This weekly enrichment is more than just kicking a ball. Each session is designed to help preschoolers develop important physical and social skills in a fun, age-appropriate way. Children learn:
- Basic soccer skills like dribbling and passing
- Coordination and gross motor development
- Teamwork and listening
- Confidence and positive sportsmanship
The focus is on movement, fun, and building confidence through play. Coaches guide the group with encouragement and structure, helping even the youngest players feel successful.
Why This Supports Our Mission
At Granada Day School, our mission is to nurture the whole child. That includes physical development, character formation, and a strong sense of community. Sports programs like this one help children practice real-life skills such as:
- Following directions
- Cooperating with peers
- Respecting others
- Trying new things
These experiences support the same goals we have in the classroom. Whether a child is learning how to hold a crayon or how to pass a ball, they are developing focus, patience, and confidence that will serve them for life.
Why Families Are Loving It
Although this is a brand-new enrichment at GDS, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. After just one session, children were eager to return and parents shared how happy they were to see their kids active, engaged, and smiling.
Families appreciate:
- The convenience of an on-campus activity
- The positive and encouraging atmosphere
- The opportunity for their child to stay active and learn new skills over the summer
Many parents tell us that their children talk about soccer all week long and come home feeling proud of what they’ve learned.
Still Time to Join
If your child is already enrolled in summer camp at Granada Day School and meets the age requirement, we would love to welcome them to soccer on Thursdays. This program offers a meaningful way to stay active while building character and friendships.
To register, submit your payment for the $40 registration fee and $180 program fee, or contact Coach Guillermo directly if joining mid-session.
We look forward to sharing more photos and stories soon as our young athletes continue to grow in spirit, strength, and teamwork.
With gratitude,
The Granada Day School Team
