How Summer Tennis Helps Our Students Grow On and Off the Court

At Granada Day School, we believe learning happens in many forms. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the playground, or out on the court, each experience can help shape children in meaningful ways. That’s why we’re so excited about our Summer Tennis enrichment with Schoolyard Tennis Academy.

This on-site program offers professional tennis instruction in a way that is perfectly suited for young learners. Children are developing real skills, gaining confidence, and staying physically active while enjoying the fresh air of our campus courtyard.

What Happens during Summer Tennis

Twice a week, students gather on the court for an engaging and age-appropriate session that blends movement, focus, and fun. Classes are designed for children ages 3 and up who are fully potty trained. Each session focuses on foundational tennis skills such as hand-eye coordination, agility, footwork, and listening.

Led by experienced instructors, the program provides structure and support while encouraging each child to try new things. Children are introduced to the basics of the game, but also learn important lessons in sportsmanship, patience, and teamwork.

How Tennis Supports the Granada Day School Mission

At Granada Day School, we are committed to nurturing the whole child. That means caring not only for their academic growth, but also their physical, emotional, and social development. Programs like this help children move with confidence, build healthy habits, and discover new ways to express themselves.

Tennis is more than a sport. It teaches discipline, perseverance, and balance. These values align beautifully with our goal to help children grow in both character and capability.

The timing of the class also supports families by offering something meaningful and active after the school day. Afternoon enrichment allows children to keep learning while giving parents peace of mind that their child is engaged in something purposeful and positive.

Why Families Appreciate Summer Tennis

Parents often tell us how excited their children are to come to tennis class. Whether it’s showing off a new skill or simply enjoying time outdoors with friends, the experience has become a bright spot in the week.

Many families also appreciate the convenience of having tennis available right here at Granada. There’s no need to drive off-campus or find an external program. Everything takes place in a space that is familiar to them.

Children leave feeling proud of what they’ve learned, and parents leave knowing their child has had a meaningful, active experience.
