A Milestone Worth Celebrating: The Silver Ceremony at GDS

Each spring, the halls of Granada Day School fill with excitement, anticipation, and a touch of wonder. It’s the season of milestones. Our youngest students prepare to take a big step forward in their journey of growth and learning.

This year, we’re marking that moment in a special way with our Silver Ceremony, taking place on Thursday, May 29 at 9:00 a.m.

The Silver Ceremony is more than a celebration of academic readiness. It’s a chance to pause and recognize how much these children have grown—spiritually, emotionally, socially, and developmentally. What may seem like small victories to us—learning to zip a backpack, sharing with a classmate, or speaking in front of a group—are actually significant leaps in a young child’s life. These are the moments that matter.

At GDS, we believe that every milestone is part of a bigger story: one where God is gently and faithfully shaping each child’s heart and mind for His purpose. That’s why this ceremony is just as much about the journey as the destination.

More Than a Student Celebration

The Silver Ceremony also honors the deep partnership between home and school. Parents play a powerful role in each child’s growth, and this event acknowledges that. During the ceremony, every student will receive a Silver Certificate, and every parent will be honored with a Silver Medal—a small but meaningful way to say: thank you for walking this path with us.

What the Morning Will Include:

  • A welcome from school leadership
  • Words from our Academic Coordinator on developmental milestones and our curriculum
  • Students walking across the stage—a symbol of their readiness for what’s next
  • Silver Certificate and Silver Medal presentations
  • Time for photos with family and classmates
  • Light refreshments (coffee, juice, and pastelitos)

The setting will feature Olympic-inspired decor, reminding us that each child runs their own race with endurance, support, and joy.

As a school committed to growing hearts and minds for Jesus, this ceremony reflects the heart of who we are. We celebrate progress, honor partnership, and give thanks for God’s steady hand in the life of every student and family.

We look forward to sharing this special morning with you—one filled with gratitude, encouragement, and hope for the journey ahead.
