Granada Day School Preschool and Kindergarten
A Granada Presbyterian Church (PCA) community ministry since 1954
Granada Day School is a private, co-educational Christian non-profit institution welcoming young students from around our community and around the world. Located on part of our wooded 3 acres in the heart of Coral Gables, our faculty and staff are dedicated to developing in students with a love of learning as well as a love of Christ.
Why Christian Education?
We believe your child is an individual created by God to be trained at home and at school to honor Him and come to accept the good news of His glorious grace and forgiveness. We provide a Christ-centered environment based upon Bible teaching, interwoven with the latest research in instruction methods for developing youth.
About Our Teachers
Our teachers are committed Christians trained and training in Early Childhood Education. The kindergarten teacher must be certified or certifiable by the State of Florida. The staff is also required to obtain 40 hours Department of Children and Families certification. Teachers must also maintain at least 12 hours of additional instruction annually.
About Our Program
Granada Day School features small student-to-teacher ratios (1′s – 1:6, 2′s 1:8; 3′s 1:10, VPK 1:9.). Our school community is built on a balanced, experiential curriculum with emphasis on discovery, problem-solving, language development, letters, numbers, science, nature, Bible study, movement education, and story time.
Our program is enhanced by Library time, gardening, cooking, outdoor play, field trips, special seasonal parties and programs.
The Learning Centers allow your child to explore God’s world while learning to listen, follow directions, take turns, share, and play cooperatively.
At Granada Day School, your child is loved and encouraged to work at his or her own level of development.
Our VPK program is FREE for all 4 year-olds born on or before September 1 living in Florida. Granada Day School is a certified Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Provider. The VPK program gives your child an opportunity to perform better in school and throughout life with quality programs that include high literacy standards, accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, manageable class sizes, and qualified instructors.
Our school year consists of 540 instructional hours (about 4 1/2 hours per day in an abbreviated school year). Lunch time is not included in the VPK program. We also offer an additional “wrap-around” program for children who need extended hours, which requires special arrangements. Maximum number of children in each class is 18 students with 1 teacher and an assistant.
